My name's Vishal Sharma and I run Pix by Vish, hello :)
I photograph in a relaxed and informal manner with elements of formality, my style can be described as documentary/reportage, I like capturing the moment. I photograph weddings, birthdays and events & provide commercial/PR photography as well as publicity for film, television and theatre. I'm based in Manchester but cover the North West of England and the UK. I'm happy to travel, flexible with my time and believe in a personal approach.
That's the business bit out of the way, here's a little bit more information about me.
My interest and passion for photography comes from my love of film and admiration of cinematography. I love the look of classic films like Apocalypse Now and The Godfather, films so beautifully photographed they stay etched in my mind. I studied English Language and Literature at university and started to experiment with photography while studying Television Production at Masters level. For the last several years I've worked in the broadcast industry in the production, post-production and production facility industries. I currently work full-time on the MediaCityUK site in Salford Quays and supplement my endeavours with professional photography. I started officially in 2008 and within the last few years I've provided personal and commercial photography for many individuals and organisations including the BBC, UKTV, Jellylegs Productions and Manchester City Council. One of my proudest moments as a photographer has come witnessing my work appear on the DVD covers of The Royle Family: The Golden Egg Cup (2009) and The Royle Family: Joe's Crackers (2010).
Aside from photography, I'm interested in travel and writing. I'm currently writing my first novel. Though it may be tenuous I think writing and photography go hand in hand as creative endeavours, both laying their foundations in ideas, thoughts and feelings. I like being creative as a person and believe photography and writing are the best tools I have in which to express myself. I do, however, believe strongly in collaboration and particularly for photography actively encourage participation from those who request my photographic services. I like having an individual spin on a given photographic assignment but equally believe the client or subject being photographed should be involved in the creative process. I'm particular and selective about what I photograph for the very reason that I see each photographic opportunity as unique.
